Moooooooooving

Today is moving day.
I know what your thinking, "But Kate, aren't you leaving China in like a month? Why are you moving?"
Well, as logical as it would be (and convenient, even though i'm not a big fan of my place) to stay, my landlord wouldn't let me extend the lease.
I know what your thinking, "But Kate, you've only been in China 10 months, shouldn't you have 2 more months anyway?"
Well, that would make sense. But of course it all has to do with my school, who signed a 10 month lease (even though apparently they assumed I'd be working 12 months?).
So here I am, moving day. Thankfully finding a place turned out well. Well, we'll see. It's a friend of a friend, and there's two girls sharing a room, while I'm staying in the other one (I would feel bad, but I"m paying rent, so I don't). It's a bit noisy outside the window, but i'll deal. I don't think there's internet. And there's a 2 month old dog who pees all the time.
Pluses: water pressure in the shower, working gas stove, and a beautiful view of the ocean. haha, can't wait to post a picture of my 'oceanfront view.'

How did I move all my stuff? Got lucky there. Last week someone moved out of my building and I saw this guy with a truck, I went up to him and said, "Hi! Are you helping them move?"
he says, "yup"
"Oh cool, do you do that a lot"
"yeah sometimes"
"is this your job?"
"i do lots of things"
"ah, well, can you help me move next week?"
"where are you moving to?"
"I'm not sure yet" (was still looking for a place at this point
"ah, well. call me when you do."

So I called him Monday,
"Hi, I'm that foreigner from WuChangJie(my street)"
"Oh yeah yeah I remember"
"So I'm moving, can you help?"
"where to?"
"(My New Address), on Thursday."
"Sure no problem, call me Wednesday night. Bye"
"wait wait wait, so, yes? and how much? and what time?"

Briefly worked out price (i offered 200 (~$30USD) and he said okay. if it's too much then whatever, i was glad to have found someone so easily.
So I called him last night, no problem.
moved today no problem. He even helped carry stuff, which I knew not to expect. so I tipped him well.
The whole thing took an hour.

Now I have to finish cleaning the old place, clean the new place, and unpack. woo!! will post pictures once the new place is clean and i'm unpacked.
