After the swim we went for a coffee as usual, just Nick and I today. Gigi, Nick's wife, and her friend came to meet us. Gigi had a lovely present for me:
just plants you say? well, you'd think that, but. last week I had randomly mentioned in a conversation with Nick (Gigi not present) that I wanted to have some life in the house besides the cockroaches, and that I wanted to get some plants. Nick, the sweetheart that he is, offered to give me a part of one of his plants to help me out. Just this offer was nice enough. I was figuring on going out and getting a por and some soil so that when he gave me the plant i could get it home to soil quickly. Well. Nick must have said something to Gigi, and then Gigi to her dad. Because her dad, whom I've never met (though I've heard has great culinary skills and is a great guy in general), took the time to pot not one but three plants for me!
It was so heartwarming beyond words when Nick told me what he and his family did for me, and he said it like it was no big deal. And yes, as you say dear reader, they're just plants. But, they're my little baby plants that were given to me by some very thoughtful people.
And that makes for one hell of a day
