Sigh. I was really excited about my baking challenge for the week, banana bread. I have this really great recipe for it, and thought I had the proper ingredients. One thing i'm still searching for is a neutral yet delicious butter, all of the ones I've found so far have a bit too much of a taste, including the one i used for my bread, which essentially tastes like the butter and not much else. sadness. i hope my friends will still enjoy eating it anyway, the texture is good and i know it can be done in my oven and the glass pans i got (yay for IKEA having small baking dishes).
Last week's baking challenge was oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and they came out great and to rave reviews by my friends. On the other side of the quality spectrum is today's banana bread... maybe next week I can find some middle ground, a good standby that i can make with local ingredients (the key component of the oatmeal chocolate chip cookies was the chips my grandma Ulicky [who we toasted to all night] had sent in her care package). Still on the hunt for non milk chocolate i can bake with, though i might try pretzels or bagels next week, also considering snickerdoodles. requests are appreciated!
In other news, the weather is nicer these days which means happiness for all. Walking home in the sun today was just lovely, if chilly with the wind. nothing too spectacular at the moment, my school is about to really mess around with my schedule because of some new classes, and it looks like i'll actually have to work all day on the weekends instead of just part of the day. bah!
truly no news. just saying hello to everyone.
5 months and counting...
